First things first: calculate the wall opening
Before anything, you will need to calculate the wall opening for your Nomofix kit. To calculate the wall opening area, take the following steps:
- Take the width of the block(190mm) and multiply by the number of glassblocks you need, we will use 6 for this example: 190mm x 6 = 1140mm
- Multiply the width of the spacer joint(5mm) by the number of inserts(5), and add it to the above number: 5mm x 6 = 30mm
- Finally, add the frame width 8mm frame x 2 = 16mm
- The total: (190x6) + (5mmx6) + 16mm = 1186mm
Note: The Nomofix Kit page will automatically calculate the correct opening size for you based on your selections.

Step 1. Open your Nomofix kit box.
Open your Nomofix kit box and familiarise yourself with the parts.
Step 2. Installation of Frame
Mitre Cut the Nomofix frame to the required size.
Position and fix the Nomofix frame into the opening for your glass block wall.
If installing directly to stud walling or end posts etc, the Nomofix frame may not be required.

Step 3. Preparation of Frame
Cut and Insert the horizontal connector into the Nomofix frame.
Set out blocks & vertical connectors to ensure a neat fit.
Step 4. Apply Nomofix Adhesive.
Apply 2 beads of Nomofix adhesive parallel along the connectors where the glass blocks sit.
The adhesive should be applied on the inner edge of the connectors.
The thickness should not exceed 5mm.
Step 5. Lay the first block.
Lay the first block on the Nomofix adhesive in the left hand corner, ensuring a positive location to the hozizontal connector.
Step 6. Add Adhesive
Apply a two vertical beads of Nomofix adhesive to the free edge of your newly laid block .
Step 7. Insert veritcal spacer
Insert the vertiacl connector onto the side of the glass block
Repeat this process until the first course is finished.

Step 8. Apply Adhesive
On the top of the newly laid blocks apply 2 beads of Nomofix adhesive.
Then lay a cut a lenght of the horizontal connector onto the blocks, ensuring a positive fit.
Step 9. Continue laying the Glass Block wall.
Repeat from Step 4 until you have completed the wall.
Tip:
- It is advised to construct the first course and allow this to initially cure so that on returning to build consecutive courses it becomes easier building a firm bed. In ideal circumstances around 6-8 courses before the panel will wobble to much, dependant on the panel width. Back shuttering could be considered for additional support.
- At this point it is advised to stop building and allow the panel to set prior to completing construction.
- For loose build of glass blocks ensure enough time is set aside to fully build
